Ear Delicious

I am breaking my silence to let you know that I am in love with a new sound. It comes from a man named Kevin Barnes. He calls it Of Montreal. I call it wonderful. It's complex, bouncy, heartbreaking, glam, noisy, beautiful, etc. etc. etc.

What's funny is that I bought this CD several months ago and gave up on it after 2 or 3 listenings. I recently decided to revisit and now I am in love. I keep telling Amberly that my favorite music always requires an investment of time and patience to truly appreciate. Maybe I will convince her with this CD.

Oh, and did I mention that the cd is called 'Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer?' Awesome, right?

How can you argue with these lyrics?

oh no she's a rejecter i must protect myself
there's the girl that left me bitter want to pay some other girl to just walk up to her and hit her but i can't i can't i can't

we just want to emote till we're dead
i know we suffer for fashion or whatever
we don't want these days to ever end
we just want to emasculate them forever

let's fall back to earth and do something pleasant
we fell back to earth like gravity's bitches
physics makes us all it's bitches

My first encounter with Of Montreal was their remix album "Satanic Twins" . I have to say I enjoy the remixes a bit more than the original material, but their lyrics cannot be denied. My favorite song "Requiem for O.M.M.2" has an amazing line: It's such a burden to cary 'round
the vestiges of dead dreams
I don't want to make a wake out of my life
I just have to let you go

It's very relevant considering Jeff.
